Application due by April 21, 2017
Onslow Virtual Academy is now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 school year. We serve 9th-12th graders enrolled at one of our 7 high schools in the district. Students must have a 2.0 GPA, be in good academic standing and be eligible for enrollment into the Onslow County School system by August 1, 2017.
All applications are due by midnight, April 21, 2017. Once the applicants are screened for GPA and academic standing, all eligible applicants will be entered into a lottery. The lottery will randomly select the students. After student selection has been made, the students will be required to complete an online assessment to test their readiness for online learning, reading comprehension and ability to follow directions.
All applicants will be notified of their status by May 13, 2017.
Students selected will remain enrolled in the student body of their districted face to face school. Since the student is a member of the student body and as long as they meet school/state based eligibility, students are allowed to participate in school based extra curricular activities clubs, musicals, fine art programs, athletics (as long as they meet local and NCHSAA eligibility requirements), proms and graduations.
Students enrolled must take and pass at least 2 online courses each semester and maintain a 2.0 GPA. Students are allowed to take their online courses either at home or in the school setting. Flexibility and choice is the cornerstone of this program.
